State Library Card Application

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania employees and contractors should complete this form to apply for a library card from the State Library of Pennsylvania, providing them access to all of the resources that the State Library has to offer. Library staff will contact the new user with information about their account and a library card number via email within 5 business days.
Members of the public should not use this form. Members of the public who live in Pennsylvania may be issued a library card to borrow items directly from The State Library of Pennsylvania only during an in-person visit. Library cards issued to the general public do not grant access to databases and online resources.
